Attorney Volunteer
Position: Volunteer/Attorney
Purpose of Position: To provide timely and compassionate legal counsel, advocacy and representation to low income individuals with terminal illnesses or HIV disease. Services and support are provided in the areas of Estate Planning (wills, financial power of attorney, medial power of attorney, living wills, guardianship declaration), Insurance (health, life, credit, disability, COBRA), Employment (benefits, discrimination, ADA, FMLA, return to work and disability issues), Credit (debt counseling, creditor harassment), Public Benefits (Social Security counseling and appeals), Housing (discrimination, eviction).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -
Provide status of case(s) on a continuing basis
- Provide logged hours spent on a case
Non-Attorney Volunteer
Position: Volunteer/Non-Attorney
Purpose of Position: To support the agency in order to effectively and efficiently provide timely and compassionate legal counsel, advocacy and representation to low income individuals with terminal illnesses or HIV disease. Services and support are provided in the areas of Special Events, Office/ Clerical Support, Health Fairs, Client Document Signing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -
Phone reception
- Intake/Client Questionnaires
- Research
- Data input
- Document Preparation
- Filing
- Word Processing
- Witnessing of Document Signing/Notarize Documents if Licensed
- Attend Health Fair
- Travel to Client’s Location
